SOMETHING

Call me an “old fogie”
Or, downright “out of touch” –
“Technologically challenged”
Or just, “Stuck in a rut”
For there is something that I continue to do –
Abandoned by Millions
Yet, continued by few –
“Something” that has endured over time,
“Common practice” before God
Turned water to wine –
“Something” that Men, on cave walls did leave
“Something” on scrolls found near the Dead Sea –
“Something” that Paul, when left in the Lurch –
Of Divine Inspiration Gave many a Church –

That “Something” I speak of –
Is inherit in Man
That “Connection” to his Brother
Unified by his hand-
A hand wielding Pen, Pencil, or Quill –
A flick of the wrist, The Heart that to fill –
To fill with the words –
Of Sorrow or Shame –
The Words of Repentance apathy, or blame
The Words that fill Voids in other mens souls
That “piece” long missing, that make a man whole –

“A letter is that “Something”
Of which I attest –
A handcrafted gift
In which receiver and giver
Are equally blessed –
Blessed in the sense
They share of their time
As Writer and reader,
Partake of each line –
Human emotion
Poured on the page
The Script laid in Ink,
Our world the Stage –
